I've made a gif, and every time I save it, the result is so grainy and looks terrible. I'm using PS CS4.

Anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about doing something like this? I know that I could just put the text down in the specific areas that I needed, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a less time-consuming way? :]

The problem:
I know how to make animated icons and never had any problems with that, but I've never done animations from cinema scenes, you know, like this one,so I've found this outstanding tutorial.
It says wordy this:
"Now that you have your images capped, open up Photoshop and FILE>SCRIPTS>LOAD FILES INTO STACK"

I've found this option in my Photoshop CS3 extended, but when I click on this function, Photoshop just failed down!! I've tried that 8 times, and every time it's just failed, without any error message.
So,any thoughts what's that and how to solve that problem?

09 November 2009 @ 03:47 pm
I've had this problem for several weeks now and I'm getting really pissed. My photoshop (elements 5) puts HUGE spaces between everyletter like this instead of . So everytime I'm adding some text I have to move every letter by hand to make it look smart. I've tryed to reinstall it several times.

Ideas?

Hi, I'm using CS3 and I have problem when trying to save round connor icon like the one I use here but it saved as square icon with a little white at the connor that should be transparent.

Any idea? Thanks.

Oh, oh, oh! John Green, you are a cutie.

This was posted a while ago (almost 2 years ago, really), but still relevant in many ways:

The things he said that were not about book banning also made me happy.

Omg, these guys are such nerds! It is wonderful.

I am a bit stuck in Paper Towns right now. Only due to time constraints though.

Hi. I had to restore my computer a little over a month ago - I reinstalled Corel Paint Shop Pro XI which I had used all the time before and this never used to happen. I think it mostly happens when I drag a picture onto the program, but I think it has came up at other times while I was using the program. It comes up and freezes up Paint Shop and I can't do anything with it. It says:

Runtime Error!
Program: ...|Paint Shop Pro Photo XI\Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo.exe
R6025
- pure virtual function call

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,
I was wondering if I could get an overlay effect like this header: http://www.fanning-love.org/
For instance, how did they do the blue stripes as well as the "shadow" of Elle behind the main image?  And what about the blurry white fade out at the bottom? I use GIMP 2.6.7. Thank you. :)

Hi, guys!

I have Photoshop CS3 and I use it to make animations from videos. I had CS2 before and I haven't done many gifs on CS3 so far. When I save the image (from Save for Web & Devices) the maximum quality which I can get is 256 colors but the animation still looks grainy.

cut for a rather big .gif )

Okay, so I searched through the memories and entries. I even googled it. But I can't seem to find any tutorials that show how to make animated rain drops like this image.

There was a tutorial for this image, but it was for an older version of PSP and was very confusing. If any one could direct me to a better tutorial, that would be wonderful. I use PSP X, PSE 6, and GIMP.

^^Btw, I am not looking for this type of rain (in the above icon). I already know how to do that.^^

Hey guys, been a while since I've posted here. :D

I want to add text to my icons but every time I do, I feel it looks awful compared to others...
Was wondering if there were any good tutorials about adding text and design around text, shadows, etc?
Here's some examples of styles:

If I get the Crake Foundation Internship, look forward to a finished comic book sometime in the near future!

I don't mean to bug, and I apologize if this has been asked (not sure how to even find this), but got a small problem. In Photoshop7, anytime I'm messing with a layer set as multiply, and I change the opacity past 90%, I get something like the icon below.

I've tried a handful of times to figure out what's up with the program, but nothing. Is there anyway to fix this?

I have been seeing this sort of colouring around lately on different icon and photo sites. I am super curious as to how one would do this? Is it the camera? :/ Please help! If this is not allowed, I do apologize. I just... do not know where else to look as it's not icons.

I'm trying to repeat the same effect I made on this: on this: . I want the red to stand out. To make the first one I duplicated the base, setting it to lighten. I added a curves later, then a hue/saturation layer. Won't work on the second one. I tried, but it wouldn't work. I use PSP CS4. Did I tagged this right?

I have photoshop cs3, and would like to know if there are any ways to have make an icon or banner that has two or more separate animated portions running simultaneously, besides matching up and merging the first frames one of all the animations to one layer, then matching up all the second, and third frames, and so on?  That particular way would be very tedious.  Is there another?

Does anyone else ever find it disappointing to see posters for an art show/reception that is poorly designed and, frankly, somewhat ugly?

I think it is especially important to have a well-designed poster for something like this if you are going into visual arts. I am turned off by poor designs in this case moreso simply because I will assume that the artwork that will be presented will not be very well thought out either. As an artist, I would want to have a beautifully polished-looking poster. I do not want tacky fonts or ill-placed images. Everything should either be crisp and clear, of wonderfully interesting, with text well-integrated into the image. I don't want things to look slapped together. This does not send across a message of "My art will be good".

It just confuses me when I know there are very good artists who make really poorly designed posters :\

Samples from my colouring book zine entitled "Vignettes from the Lives of Girls with Pretty Knees":

+ )

Today, I watched Trick 'R Treat and it was pretty good. I like black humour and this movie was certainly original in its concept and interesting. It was more of a meditation on traditions and the concept of Halloween rather than a straight out horror. Anyway, I enjoyed it, although, there were some gory bits. There are funny twists.

I'm trying to design a new header for this website: http://www.totallyjennette.com/

I`m just new to icon-making and I`d like to know what`s the best way to crop pictures down to 100 x 100.
Let`s say I have an image that`s 800 x 500. I crop the width down to about 503 so it`s almost a square already since it`s near 500.
So I just go to Image > Image Size and change them the size to 100 x 100 but I`m sure there`s a better and easier way to do this.
I think it requires changing the Canvas size? Can someone please teach me how? I use Photoshop CS3.

Thanks in advance! :)

Just a note about this tutorial, I think half of it is translatable and the other half isn't. If you have channels

- KENPACHI IS THE CRAZY ASS BAMF THT IS ON THE TOP PANEL
- BYAKUYA IS THE ASSHOLE BAMF ON THE BOTTOM

How to go from this to this or this - Translatable.

there are two extra ones inside for photoshop only.

Hi i'm not sure if this is allowed cos' its not exactly icons, more of photos,
but does anyone know how to make photos look like this:

I'm hoping it's more of a photoshop effect than the camera. Will delete if this isn't allowed.

I'm looking at the black edges and the very nice soft floaty effect which i cant seem to get. thanks much!
